Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a small urn hold?

The Small Turtle Biodegradable Water Burial Urn holds 59 cubic inches, which is a portion of an adult's ashes. Small urns like this are often used so several family members can each take part in a ceremony, or for a separate scattering or burial.

Where can I hold a water burial?

Burial at sea in U.S. waters must take place at least three nautical miles from shore, with a report to the EPA within 30 days. For lakes, rivers or bays, check state and local rules first, as they vary.

How do I keep this urn safe before the ceremony?

Store it indoors somewhere dry and out of direct sun. Because it is designed to break down naturally, contact with water or damp conditions should wait until the ceremony itself.

When will my order ship?

Place your order before 1:00 PM CST on a weekday and it ships the same business day. Engraved urns ship the same day once the proof is approved by 1:00 PM CST, and anything completed later ships the next business day. We are open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
